Girl Scout Cookies Provide Message of Support to Local Charities
The Girl Scout Cookie season is in full-swing and everyone’s favorite Girl Scout Cookie varieties – including Thin Mints and Samoas – now have a way to reach those who would otherwise not be able to purchase cookies through the Gift of Caring program.
Through Gift of Caring, consumers can support Girl Scouts when they buy cookies but leave the cookies with the troop to be donated to a charitable organization of the troop’s choice. This year, Girl Scouts in the area will be sending cookies to soldiers overseas and to Hillcrest Children’s Home. Each troop may choose their favorite charity, group, or organization to help support. Last year Troop #6228 donated over 75 boxes of cookies to the Hillcrest Children’s Home.  Giving Girl Scouts the opportunity to donate first hand gives them an appreciation for what they have, and helps them develop a strong character and a giving heart towards others.
Girl Scouts builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.
